Yay for a new comic! Also, yay for Pepero Day (even though it was technically yesterday)!

For those of you that don’t know what 빼빼로 (pepero) is, it’s basically a cookie stick dipped in chocolate. Many of you might be more famiiar with the Japanese version of the same snack, which is known as Pocky.

Pepero Day is a holiday in Korea that’s quite similar to Valentine’s Day. It takes place every year on November 11th, since the date 11/11 looks like four sticks of Pepero. It’s pretty much one of many couple holidays where people exchange boxes of Pepero with friends and loved ones. Some of these boxes can get pretty large and ridiculous, and make for great novelty gifts. It’s also fun to see people with the home made version of the snack.

While Pepero isn’t my favorite snack food in Korea, it’s one of those things that I grew up with, and will always enjoy as a result. It’s also a nice feeling whenever you receive a box from a random student or coworker. My favorite variant is the Almond Chocolate version. Do any of you have a favorite? How many boxes of Pepero did you give/receive for your Pepero Day?
